Rent a Car Terms and Conditions

AGE REQUIREMENT: Minimum age of the driver must be 23 years old or the driving license must be issued at least one year before the date of renting a car. Maximum age 69.

PAYMENT METHOD: For all groups a valid Credit Card accepted by Sapphire, must be shown for the pre-authorization of the renter’s liability as well as the settlement of final rental charges.

DEPOSIT FOR GUARANTEE (Security fee) : Upon pick up of the vehicle, Sapphire will pre-authorize an amount from the driver’s credit card as a deposit for guarantee which will be fully refunded at the end of the rental, provided no other charges arise. Please note that the refund can take up to 14 days, depending on the issuing bank of the credit card. The amount of the deposit is 900 €.

DRIVING LICENSE: A valid driving license held for at least one year is required from the driver. For more information over the accepted Driving License per country of origin, please see below.

GRACE PERIOD: At the end of the agreed rental period, Sapphire allows a grace period of 30 minutes free of charge after which, the renter will be charged with a minimum of one full day rental.

CANCELLATIONS

Cancellation of a booking must be made a minimum of forty eight (48) hours before the rental of the vehicle is due to commence, pursuant to a booking made on this booking engine. If you wish to cancel a booking, the only accepted method is through our sapphire web page.

In case of cancellations of bookings the following charges will be applied:

• In the event of a cancellation notice which is received by sapphire at least forty eight (48) hours before the rental of the vehicle is due to commence, pursuant to a booking made on this booking engine, all funds will be reimbursed.

• In the event of a cancellation notice which is received by sapphire less than forty eight (48) hours before the rental of the vehicle is due to commence, pursuant to a booking made on this booking engine, the first day funds paid will be charged.

• In the event that the client does not show up to pick up the vehicle from the place he booked the full reservation will be charged.

TRAFFIC FINES: All fines resulting from the drivers conduct are born solely by the renter.

INSURANCE: All authorized drivers of Sapphire vehicles are covered against damages from Fire to the rented vehicle, and Liability Insurance to Third Party death, injury, and property. Both coverage’s are subject to General Terms of the Sapphire’s insurance contract with its Insurer.

COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER (CDW): The renters liability for damage to the rented vehicle, can be reduced, under the condition that the Greek Traffic Law is not violated, to a minimum charge of €900.

THEFT PROTECTION (TP): For a charge of €6 per day if accepted, reduces the renter’s financial responsibility in case of total theft of the Sapphire vehicle to 500. This excludes any thefts of personal effects.

PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE (PAI): For a charge of €6 per day, Personal Accident Coverage can be obtained covering driver´s and passenger´s medical expenses resulting from an accident with the rented vehicle up to €5,000 and for the loss of life or total / partial permanent disablement: up to €70,000 and €17,600 respectively. Aggregate indemnity for every accident is limited to €88,000.

INCIDENT ADMINISTRATION FEE (IAF): In case of an accident due to the renter’s liability, renter has the obligation to pay to Sapphire a non refundable fee of €20 to cover administration expenses.

ADDITIONAL DRIVER/S: A charge of €5.00 per day has to be paid for each additional Driver.

AIRPORT CHARGE (ASC): The charge applicable to Athens International Airport is 13%. The above percentages are calculated on the sum of charges excluding taxes and fuel charges.

GASOLINE PRE-PAYMENT POLICY: For rental periods of 3 days or longer and at the start of rental, the renter is required to pre-pay the cost of any petrol in the tank of the vehicle to be rented. Upon return and only then, of the rented vehicle, the renter may request a refund of the cost for any remaining amount of fuel in the tank, which if less than that of initial pre-paid quantity, a Refueling Service Charges will be applied.

REFUELLING SERVICE CHARGE: €5.00

BABY SEATS: Available on request with a daily charge of €4 up to 2 days duration, for duration more than 3 days it’s free of charge. (If available)

GPS: Available on request with a daily charge of €8 up to 2 days duration, for duration more than 3 days it’s free of charge. (If available)

SNOW CHAINS: Available on request with a daily charge of €3.00 up to 2 days duration, for duration more than 3 days it’s free of charge. (If available)

FLEET AVAILABILITY: The Company reserves the right to provide a different car model to that originally reserved of an equivalent or higher model type.

COLLECTION / DELIVERY: Every collection or delivery which does not take place at a Sapphire location shall be charged with an extra pick up fee. Outside the city limits there will be an additional charge of €0.90/km for categories A, B, C, D, €1.20/km for group 9, €1.80/km for groups 3, YP and €0.90/km for all other categories. The charge for every delivery or collection Outside Working Hours is €23.

ONE WAY RENTALS: Applicable between Sapphire locations following a written authorization and a special charge agreement with Sapphire.

ACROSS THE BORDER RENTALS: Not Allowed.

FERRY RESTRICTIONS: Allowed only with prior written agreement with Sapphire.Please note that any damage to the vehicle in transit will be not covered by any insurance.

TAXES: All rates and charges in this brochure are subjected to V.A.T. At some offices a municipal tax of 0.5% is added to the rental rate.
